Palmetto Choral Collective (formerly Palmetto Youth Choir & Palmetto Peace Choir) provides singers with choral music education and performance experience while inspiring a lifelong love of singing and music! Our singers work together to build choral skills and musicianship, while enjoying connection and community.
We are open to all youth and adults who love to sing. No auditions or experience needed! Reading music is not a requirement, but is a welcomed skill. Our choristers are divided into four groups based on age, from kindergarten to adult. Details are outlined on our YOUTH and ADULTS pages.
Based in Charleston, SC, we are an independent, secular choir, not affiliated with any school or church. We explore an eclectic range of musical styles, and foster a fun, friendly, inclusive and creative atmosphere. Our repertoire includes a wide range of music, such as folk, jazz, World, musical theatre, pop and traditional choral pieces. We strongly believe in leveraging the power of music as a positive transformational force!
With our heart-centered, "people first" model, we strive to ensure everyone feels welcomed and celebrated. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, national origin, religion, disability, age or socioeconomic situation.
Our rehearsals and camps currently take place Monday afternoons/evenings on James Island, in the beautiful St. James Center, on the campus of St. James Episcopal. Rehearsal times are staggered by age group. Many of our performances, special events and retreats take place there, and also at various venues throughout the Charleston area.
Palmetto Choral Collective is committed to providing audition-free, equal access to quality music education in Charleston County through recurring rehearsals, instruction, workshops, performances, summer camps, and community-building activities for all members.
We nurture musicianship, encourages leadership, foster inclusivity, and unite peopleinharmony, thereby strengthening the broader community through the power of music.
